The Food and Drug Administration Philippines is on no account bringing to an end its way to improve its service. In harmony with the ASEAN Cosmetic Directive (ACD) Product Notification executed by the Center for Cosmetic Regulation and Research (CCRR), hotel toiletries are considered health products that require FDA notification.

To promote quality, safe and efficient products, last June 2013, the administration conducted random monitoring to check the 102 tourist establishments bordering on hotels, resorts and tourist inns verging on the country.

According to the FDA Philippines, the Field Regulatory Officers found out that 54% of the toiletries’ suppliers of tourist establishments do not hold a valid License to Operate (LTO) issued by the FDA Philippines. Furthermore, 21% of the suppliers provided mislabeled products to the establishments that keep product information under wrap.

As an outcome of the random monitoring of the FDA Philippines on the aforementioned establishments, the administration released FDA Advisory No. 2013-040 that forewarns establishments that do not have a bona fide LTO and product notification handed out by the regulatory authority. Moreover, the administration advises the public to be cautious on the products they use.

FDA Philippines has been consistent keeping its mark ensuring the effective implementation of the national regulatory framework with its superlative practice securing not only the Filipino’s health and safety but also Philippine tourists as well. And for that reason, tourism economy in the Philippines may also be alleviated.
