The Bureau of Immigration has recently released a bulletin warning all foreigners not to lie. In an article released on 18 October 2012 by the Bureau in its website, it warned against fraud and misrepresentation in applying for any permits under the Alien Registration Act of 1950 or else face criminal prosecution. The article was released because the bureau recently found out that certain Chinese nationals attempted to register their child as a native-born permanent resident through fraudulent documents.

According to the article, under the law, a foreign child born in the Philippines can only qualify for registration as a native-born alien if his or her parents, one of whom must be a permanent resident, are legally married. This was not the case purportedly in the said incident.

Under the Alien Registration Act of 1950, any alien required to apply for registration who fails or refuses to make such application is sure to face jail term and/or payment of prescribed fine.  Thus, to avoid this situation, it is greatly advised to seek the assistance of professionals in this kind of field.
